What We Believe

Core Beliefs

The following are the core beliefs of The Family Church based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

The Bible

The Bible is the infallible Word of God. All of the Bible is needed to live a life led by the Spirit. (2 Timothy 3:16)

One God

There is only one, eternal God. (Deuteronomy 6:4) He created heaven, earth, and all living things. He revealed Himself as Father (Creator), Son (Savior), and Holy Ghost (indwelling Spirit) with no division of being. (John 1:1-14, Genesis 1:26, Matthew 3:16-17, Matthew 28:19, Luke 1:35, Isaiah 9:6, John 10:30)

Jesus

Jehovah of the Old Testament, the one true God, wrapped Himself in flesh and was born of a virgin. (1 Timothy 3:16) Jesus Christ is God manifested in the form of man. (2 Corinthians 5:19) On His Father’s side, Jesus was divine. On His mother’s side, Jesus was human. For this reason, He was known as the Son of God and the Son of man. (Isaiah 9:6) “In [Jesus] dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily." (Colossians 2:9) Jesus is the only mediator between God and man. (1 Timothy 2:5)

Salvation

Salvation is received by grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. We become a recipient of this salvation through obedience to the Gospel: repentance from sins, baptism in Jesus name, and receiving the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues. (Ephesians 2:8, Romans 5:1, 6:1-6, 6:17, Acts 2:38, 4:12, 1 Corinthians 12:13)

The Church

The Church is meant to be the visible body of Christ, sent into the world to glorify God and proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Holiness

Holiness is not a matter of salvation but of Christian maturity. The Spirit filled believer is called to be holy as God is holy and to follow holiness in a manner acceptable to God. (1 Peter 1:15, Romans 12:1, Titus 2:11-12, Hebrews 12:14)
Willful disobedience to these commands will eventually become a salvation issue. (1 Corinthians 3:16-17, 2 Corinthians 6:17 - 7:1)
